New Contexts/New Practices Conference Postings

July 7, 2011 / By AIGA EDUCATOR

Andrew Blauvelt (moderator) and Andrea Codrington (writer) report results of their authoring session.

AIGA Design Educators Conference, New Contexts/New Practices was held October 8-10, 2010 in Raleigh, North Carolina at NC State University. Organized by Meredith Davis, Denise Gonzales Crisp, and Santiago Piedrafita, the conference aim was to generate and publish ideas about how design education will address the defining trends of contemporary practice and culture. As an authoring conference, it worked to build consensus and action plans for where we should be heading if graphic design is to remain relevant in the 21st century and if we are to achieve the competencies outlined in AIGA Defining the Designer of 2015.
