Hot off the press! Proceedings from the AIGA DEC MAKE Conference

The 2018 AIGA Design Educators Conference held in Indianapolis at the Heron School of Art & Design in June of 2018 was titled MAKE: An exploration of what it means to be a design maker today. Design educators from near and far gathered together for three days of discussion, provocation, collaboration, sheltering from a tornado, and yes, making. Short and long paper presentations, panel discussions, and workshops covered an exciting array of topics related to design education and the act (and art) of making design.

An incredibly dedicated team of designers/design educators have finished the proceedings for this conference which is available for open source viewing and/or print copy purchase at our new Dialogue publication page here: https://www.fulcrum.org/dialogue. Dialogue is the ongoing series of fully open-access proceedings of the conferences and national symposia of the AIGA Design Educators Community (DEC). Issues of Dialogue contain papers from DEC conferences that focus on topics affecting design education, research, and professional practice, although each conference varies in theme. Michigan Publishing, the hub of scholarly publishing at the University of Michigan, publishes Dialogue on behalf of the AIGA DEC.
