(Deadline Extended!) Announcing the Call for Proposals for the 2016-17 AIGA DEC Design Faculty Research Grants!
As of November 1, the call for proposals (CFP) for the 2016-17 AIGA DEC Faculty Research Grants was officially opened. The deadline for submissions for this CFP is midnight, CST, extended to January 13, 2017. Individual part-time or full-time design educators from North America, or teams of up to three, are eligible to apply for this funding.
Each proposal submitted for the AIGA Design Faculty Research Grant MUST be prepared according to the instructions articulated in The Proposal Guidelines and Proposal Submission Instructions: 2016_11 AIGA DEC Design Research Grant Application Instructions
The AIGA Design Faculty Research Grant is an initiative facilitated by the AIGA Design Educators Community Steering Committee and by the AIGA National Design Center. This initiative awards two (2) two-year grants to support research formulated, conducted and shared by a North American-based, college/university-level design faculty member or team of faculty members that contributes to the base of knowledge that informs the AIGA Design Educators Community and that aligns with its mission.
A $7,500 award will be granted to help support the continuation or advancement of an ongoing design research project, and a separate $2,500 award will be granted to help initiate a new design research project. Each of these grants is designed to support activity that transpires over a two-year timespan. All eligible proposals submitted each year during the timespan designated for their receipt will be reviewed by peer evaluators selected by the Design Educators Community Steering Committee. This peer evaluation process will culminate in the award of each grant.
Please note: if you submitted a proposal last year but were NOT awarded funding, you ARE eligible to re-submit your 2015-16 proposal this year, or you may submit a revised version of that proposal—one that incorporates revisions suggested by last year’s external reviewers—in response to this year’s CFP.
