We Proudly Introduce the AIGA DEC Journal Advisory Committee

April 10, 2015 / By Eric Benson

After our annual committee retreat and roundtable discussions about our new journals Dialectic and Dialog at the New Ventures Conference in Portland, Oregon last September (2014), the steering committee of the AIGA Design Educators’ Community continued to meet monthly to discuss how the development of these projects ought to proceed. These phone conversations and emails led to the selection of your Journal Advisory Committee. We began meeting April 3, and will continue to meet bi-weekly through October of this year to establish a strategic and ideological vision for your print (Dialectic) and online (Dialog) journals, as well as the logistical steps necessary to effectively launch both of them.

The Journal Advisory Committee solicited input from the AIGA Design Education community during the recent Spaces of Learning Conference in Toronto, Canada April 16-18. Members of this committee facilitated a roundtable discussion centered around Dialectic and Dialog at the event, and, for those who were unable to attend, we will also field suggestions and comments through this blog.

We are excited that the following design educators and researchers have volunteered to help with this important endeavor for our discipline:

  • Kate La Mere – East Carolina University
  • Paul Nini – Ohio State
  • Holly Willis – USC
  • Michael Gibson- North Texas
  • Amy Fidler – Bowling Green
  • Eric Benson – Illinois
  • Ann McDonald – Northeastern University
  • Brockett Horne – MICA
  • Elizabeth Resnick – MassArt
