Call for Proposals: 2013 Design Educators Faculty Research Grant

September 17, 2013 / By AIGA EDUCATOR

The AIGA Design Educators Community Steering Committee is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the 2013 Design Educators Faculty Research Grant (pdf).

The AIGA Design Educators Community will award two (2) two-year grants to support research undertaken by a North American-based, college/university-level design faculty member or team of faculty members that contributes to the base of knowledge that informs the AIGA Design Educators Community and that aligns with its mission. One $7,500 award and one $2,500 award will be granted on 02.14.14. The $7,500 grant will be awarded to support the continuation or advancement of an ongoing design research project; the $2,500 grant will be awarded to support the initiation of a new design research project. Both grants are designed to fund projects over the course of two years.

The AIGA Design Faculty Research Grant is an initiative facilitated by the AIGA Design Educators Community Steering Committee and by the AIGA National Design Center. All eligible proposals will be reviewed by peer evaluators selected by the Design Educators Community Steering Committee. The review process will culminate in the awarding of each of these two grants.

The first AIGA Design Faculty Research Grant was awarded in 2008, and previous grant recipient research reports can be found here. You may also find it advisable to review the abstracts of previous grants here. If you would like to share your thoughts regarding this initiative, please contact Steering Committee members Michael Gibson or Eric Benson.
